Full description
Undoubtedly one of the best looking and competitive MGAs in Europe, this 1956 Mk1 has been a race car for many years having been previously campaigned by Rob Cull of Equipe GTS fame. The car’s current owner purchased the MG directly from Rob with the intention of running it in Equipe Pre-63. It was entrusted to Martin Stretton Racing to race prepare to their normal fastidious standards and they have continued to run the car ever since. The 1622cc engine and gearbox were rebuilt in 2021 by MG race specialists and the car has only had three outings since then, as it was fully prepared for 2023 but never actually raced.
Exceptionally well presented in British Racing Green with a yellow stripe, the car sits on original-spec wire wheels wearing Dunlops and is in excellent condition all round.
Potentially a very competitive car with Equipe Pre-63 in the right hands, a proven class winner and tremendous fun to drive in both dry and wet conditions, outperforming many larger engined cars. It’s UK road-registered offering the versatility to drive to hill-climbs or sprints, take part, and drive home again, great fun.
The car can be viewed by appointment at Martin Stretton Racing and interested parties are encouraged to find out more about this classic, fifties MG racer.
