Nearly 70 years later these A35s not only have a remarkably rich racing history, but they continue to captivate racing enthusiasts in their constant David vs. Goliath battles. Finished in black and white, this stunning little A35 was bought by our vendor in 2017 specifically for the Silverstone Classic’s Celebrity Race. The Race ended up being an absolute spectacle, drawing hordes of spectators but more importantly raising over £10,000 for Prostate Cancer UK. As the sun set and early evening drizzle turned into relentless rain, the 3.6-mile Silverstone Grand Prix circuit became treacherous, adding to the excitement and making it a unique challenge for the star-studded line up of participants.
Behind the wheel of this iconic Austin A35 was none other than the Olympic Gold Medalist, Jason Kenny. Alongside him, a constellation of gold medal-winning Olympians, legendary athletes, TV stars, radio presenters, best-selling authors, and rock sensations came together to create an electrifying atmosphere. With its impeccable preparation by Westbourne Motors, this Austin A35 race car showcased its outstanding performance, agility, and resilience throughout the thrilling race. As the dust settled and the chequered flag waved, the legacy of VAS 189 was etched into the annals of motorsport history. It had not only left an indelible mark on the track but also contributed to a noble cause by supporting Prostate Cancer UK.
Presenting very well in its fetching colour combination of black and white paintwork with a chequered radiator, the car is fresh to market having been carefully looked after and very well maintained in our vendor's ownership, always remaining in a temperature controlled garage/workshop facility.
