Technical info

Full description

From its introduction in 1969 the Chevron B16 was acknowledged as one of the most attractive sports prototypes ever made, with its beautiful proportions, low roof line and curvaceous aerodynamic body.

It was competitive too, with Brian Redman scoring an early victory in the car at the 1969 Nurburgring 500 Kilometres, despite having a smaller engine than most of the other front runners. Fitted with Cosworth, BMW or Mazda engines the B16 went on to compete in Group 6 racing across the globe, including endurance events at Le Mans, Daytona and Sebring.

To this day the B16 remains a highly popular and very competitive proposition for historic racing worldwide, including Classic Le Mans, Peter Auto, Masters Sports Car Legends and (from this season) HSCC’s Guards Trophy.

As a consequence of the car’s enduring appeal and increasing value a large number of replica and continuation B16s have been produced over the years, to the extent that these outnumber the 23 cars produced by the factory.

It is therefore rare to find a B16 which has continuous history from new and has been authenticated by Chevron engineers from that period. Furthermore, this example is completely original and unmolested, having been unused and kept in storage for many years. It will therefore require a full rebuild before use or could alternatively be preserved in a collection.

An unrepeatable opportunity and complete with a substantial history file. Further details will be made available to seriously interested parties.
