Full description

This genuine Formula 2 is in excellent ready to race condition, will accommodate a larger/taller driver and is offered for sale at a highly competitive price due to owner’s retirement from European motorsport.

Chassis number B29-75-03 was bought by Chevron’s US importer Fred Opert for his young Mexican driver, Hector Rebaque - who went on to race in F1. The Chevron was exhibited at the 1975 Earls Court Racing Car Show in Rebaque’s ‘Cafe Mexicano’ sponsored livery, and he raced the car throughout the 1975 European Formula 2 season, fitted with an injected BDG.

The Chevron was then shipped to the US by Opert and reconfigured as a Formula Atlantic for the 1976 season, with Rebaque continuing as the driver. At the end of the season the car was sold to Carl Leibich who continued to run it in Atlantic specification, as did subsequent owners in the US. Sold to Australia in 2006 the car then benefited from a complete restoration. This revealed that the original tub was in excellent condition and B29-75-03 was returned to full F2 specification.

Since its restoration the car has competed at all the major tracks in Eastern Australia, where it has proven to be totally reliable and extremely competitive. More recently imported to the UK (with all duties paid) and raced in Historic Formula 2 at Hockenheim and Silverstone last year.

Fitted with a 1993cc alloy-block Cosworth BDG on original Lucas injection, which benefited from a full rebuild (including new valves, seats, guides tappets, camshafts etc) only 600 miles ago and has recently had a further refresh. A new crown wheel and pinion has just been fitted. All engine work, maintenance and development has been undertaken by renowned engine builder and race car restorer David Kent.

Complete with two sets of genuine Chevron wheels, a set of transport wheels, body moulds, two spare noses, assorted spares and a detailed history file incorporating a current HTP valid until 2029 and an Australian Certificate of Description (COD).

Just letting you know that the Viper GT3 sold a couple days ago via a lead picked up on Motorsport Showroom. It really is a huge amount easier communicating with leads through your platform.
