Full description
Motorsport Showroom are pleased to present to market, on behalf of its owner, a fabulous Mk1 Cortina fitted with a 2-litre Twin-Cam engine that’s on the button and ready to go. It was built in the mid-1980s by Mark Dales Classic Cars as one of three run by the team at that time and this particular car is the only surviving original example. Having been a race car since the 80s, it has been continuously developed over the years with the emphasis in recent years on reliability and performance.
Privately owned by our vendor for the last eight years, it has been fastidiously maintained and has benefited from his vast experience in the world of motor racing. Whilst in his tenure, the decision was taken to fit a refreshed 2-litre Twin-Cam engine built by PEC Racing and there are only 154 miles on the unit since the rebuild. The gearbox was fitted with brand new internals at the same time, (154 miles ago) and the car was last raced in the Oulton Park Gold Cup in 2020 when it proved very competitive braking the 5-year-old class lap record. Indeed, the senior citizen owner-driver has achieved numerous class and overall wins competing with this car in his ownership, whilst also at certain circuits managing to outpace both Mustangs and Falcons. More information on the car’s impressive specification is available upon request.
Our vendor has really enjoyed the Cortina in rounds of both the HSCC and CSCC Championships and naturally it’s eligible for, and would be welcome at, a whole variety of other events. An impressive spares package is included and, as with the build specification again, full details will be available on request to interested parties.
The car is accompanied by an impressive owner’s file containing lots of relevant history and most importantly, set-up and gearing information for a number of circuits. Pleasingly, the owner would also be more than happy to accompany the buyer on a test day to help pass on years of valuable experience gained with this competitive car. Please note, the vendor would also consider a suitable and interesting part exchange.
Fresh to market and on the button, we anticipate considerable interest in this race ready distinctive Cortina, so please do get in touch to find out more about this fantastic historic race car that offers a gateway into some of the best Historic and Classic Motorsport available anywhere.
