Full description

An opportunity to purchase a well prepared classic rally car. This Alfa Romeo has been competing in regularity and endurance rallies since the 1990’s and has proven to be a car capable of winning. This is of course down to its reliability and the talents of its driver and navigator. The detail in its preparation is superb for example many key components have been lockwired for safety.

The car is a very earlier Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 ti that was first register in Manchester, UK on  the 30th June  1964 finished in white, the car still has its original windscreen that shows the running in instructions on it.

If you want the perfect car for long distance endurance  and local regularity rally events this is a car you should consider.

The current owner has had the car since 2016 and first competed against it in the 2004 Scottish Malts trial where it finished 3rd overall and claimed fastest times on many of the tests.

John Bennett was the owner at this time and whilst in his ownership, the engine was rebuilt in 1998 by the renowned Alfa specialist Bob Dove which can be confirmed by the stampings on the cylinder head.

Some of the rally prep work was carried out by Kevin Savage and I believe Frank Fennell was the owner at that time. He and Kevin entered it into several events including 8th Rally of the Tests and the 18th Winter Challenge in 2011.

General Specification and work carried out

The Alfa specialist Ian Ellis has overhauled the gearbox as second gear synchro was showing signs of wear. Replaced Clutch cable and Gearbox Mounting. In addition to this Classic Alfa adjustable front suspension has been fitted and the geometry set up by Alfa specialist Peter Smart.

The propshaft has been rebuilt, it comes with two sets of 15” wheel one set with snow/mud tyres the other with new Kumo Ecowings

It has new carpeting, full roll cage, four point harness, Recarro style front seats, Leather rimmed Steering Wheel, intermittent wipe facility, electric screen washers, under bonnet and boot lighting, new brake master cylinder, Mintex competition pads, hydraulic handbrake, as well as original item, a pair of Cibie Oscar spot lights, Reversing Light, electric cooling fan, sump guard, secure tow eyes, race battery, electric master cut off, electric fuel pump, Bilstien shocks all round, 2Kg fire extinguisher, Brantz International pro2 tripmeter with drivers distance display.

Whist not a show car it has been kept to a good standard despite the odd off in its years as a competition car.

A comprehensive but not total history comes with the car.

Easy to use, a needed approach for sure and I like the concept. Will continue to use this efficient platform and excited to hear that a new ‘drives available’ category is on the way.
