Full description

Austin Healey Sprite Sebring Replica Race Car

The Austin Healey Sprite was launched in May 1958, in that same month a Sprite had its race debut in the hands of Douglas Wilson-Spratt at Silverstone. Douglas later built the WSM special bodied Sprites & Midget. Sprites quickly became the budget sports car of choice for many club racers & rally crews. Several tuning companies also saw the potential of the Sprite, one of the main exponents was John Sprinzel, who working with Williams & Pritchard designed the Sprinzel Sebring Sprite Coupe, of which 6 were built. John’s own car was registered PMO 200 & had much success in both international racing & rallying, most notably when driven by Stirling Moss at Sebring in 1961.

The car on offer here has been built as a replica of PMO 200. Built in Holland approximately 15 years ago & returned to UK about 12 years ago by long standing & very well respected Austin Healey exponent Eddie Woods for his son Harvey to race, which they did with much success in various race series including Equipe GTS, HRDC & AMOC.

Woolmer Classic Engineering have recently recommissioned the car, after a period of storage. This included changing all fluids, new battery, new front wheel bearings, strip & rebuild brakes, strip & check carburettor. Full engine set up on our in-house rolling road.

The Specification Includes:-

·         1380cc engine with approximately 10 hours running time producing 128bhp at the flywheel on our rolling road.
·         Alloy radiator
·         Alloy font inner wheel arches
·         Straight cut close ratio gearbox
·         Limited slip differential
·         Light weight glass fibre bodywork
·         Negative camber front suspension
·         Semi-elliptic rear springs
·         Original period alloy Monza fuel cap
·         Matching bucket seats
·         Spare set of 4 Minilite alloys fitted with road tyres

Note, the safety harness & extinguisher will need to be replaced before the car is raced.

Eligible for some excellent UK historic race series including Equipe Classic Racing, Classic Sports Car Club & HRDC. And a number of great European series as well.
