Like many of the highest-performing Cobra recreations competing in historic racing today, this Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupé was built by Gary Spencer of Classic Racing Cars in the UK.

As his recent Tourist Trophy victory in Goodwood’s hotly contested Revival Meeting attests, Gary Spencer is one of the most decorated and respected Cobra specialists in the industry and his cars remain in huge demand.

Completing the build in 2018 on behalf of first owner Paul Gibson, preparation of the car transferred to Andrew and Mike Jordan’s esteemed JRT equipe when our vendor purchased the car ahead of the 2021 season.

With JRT well-established as one of the finest preparers in the UK and Andrew needing no introduction as a world-class professional driver, it was no surprise to see the car prove its capabilities and challenge for overall victory with Andrew at the wheel for the two Masters Gentleman Drivers races held at Silverstone in support of that year’s British Grand Prix. Having secured 2nd overall in the first of two contests, a dice for the lead on the final lap of the second unfortunately resulted in a brief excursion before recovery to 5th position overall at the chequer.

Today the car presents beautifully, almost as if brand new. One glance under the bonnet explains JRT’s reputation for exquisite car preparation and defies all efforts to find fault. With a full fifteen hours remaining on the Peter Knight-built engine until the next rebuild is due, HTP papers valid until 30th December 2027, and fuel tank, seat belts, and extinguisher also remaining in date, this is a race-ready weapon, primed for battle at the very sharp end of any ‘sixties GT grid.

The car is located at our showrooms in Petersfield, Hampshire, UK. Viewings by appointment are warmly welcomed.
