Guide Price: £1,000 - £1,200
Released to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the tragic death of one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers, the model is impressive in its detail and accuracy, in its chassis, the engine (which can also be displayed as a stand-alone piece), cockpit, brakes and suspension. The body can be removed from the chassis to reveal the inner workings of this hugely successful car. The model received a glowing review from none other than Gordon Murray, the technical director for McLaren at the time. It was also officially endorsed by the Ayrton Senna Institute and McLaren. The accompanying highly illustrated books contain comprehensive information about McLaren, Honda and Senna and an in-depth look at each round of the 1988 season. Produced in very limited numbers, these models rarely come to market.
