Immensely passionate about Ferrari and its engines, artisan Terzo Dalia has been handcrafting incredibly detailed and faithful representations of Ferrari’s finest componentry in very small numbers. Recognised by collectors worldwide and even Luca de Montezemolo, Dalia constructs 1/3 scale replicas – much more than mere models.
Utilising many of the same practices and materials as Ferrari would in period, this is a faithful recreation of the 12 cylinder boxer engine that powered Niki Lauda in 1975 & 1977 and later Jody Scheckter in 1979. Using 94 screws, the hand-formed, sand-casted block is made from Galsi-9 aluminium with 19 core boxes to hollow out the shape, resulting in a lightweight engine of just 7kg.

A different shape to the standard V12s, this boxer layout additionally features the inboard braking system and airducting.
Using his factory connections, the process started by carefully dismantling a 312 T F1 engine in order to accurately take measurements to recreate in 1/3 scale. Recreated first by hand in wood, the engine was recreated and test fitted before casting and formation
The first engine Dalia completed coincided with the Golden Jubilee of Ferrari and after nomination, placed first overall. Both Piero Ferrari and Luca di Montezemolo presented him with the award and his works can be seen in the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, Italy.
