Jensen Interceptor II 1971

£28,000
Posted in Specialist cars

Summary

Here is a rare opportunity to acquire a wonderful example of the desirable and increasingly rare MK2 Jensen Interceptor. This is a 1971 example with the thunderous 6276cc V8 engine that remarkably has only had three owners from new. An original LHD Californian car with automatic transmission it was first owned by an American citrus farmer and it wears its appropriately eye-catching, beautiful yellow paintwork with pride. Repainted in 2013, the car was bought by a second U.S. owner before being imported into the U.K. by the current vendor in early 2021. Working in the car restoration business the owner undertook a thorough servicing of the vehicle bringing it up to his own exacting standards. This included a new 4 barrel carburettor, new exhaust and manifold, new tyres, freshly painted engine block, sourcing original and correct hub caps for all four wheels and re-upholstering the leather driver’s seat. The original, uncracked dashboard was also totally rewired. Displaying just 35,489 miles it comes with the highly desirable original tool kit and jack that alone are worth over £1000. The electric windows, reclining seats, two speaker radio and re gassed air con mean you can enjoy this Italian designed classic GT in cool high speed luxury. Sporting an original steering wheel that the inspectors at the Jensen factory in West Bromwich once used as the slave wheel, this well sorted example of an iconic hand built car is ready to embark on more adventures with its new owner.

Full description

The most important thing to look out for when buying a Jensen Interceptor is body rot. The expense of repairing bodywork can quickly go beyond the value of the car but with this rare example there are no such worries as it has been garaged in the dry Californian climate until 2021 when it was imported into the U.K. Imported by the vendor it has benefitted from the care and attention to detail of a professional in the car restoration business.
A real rarity with having only three owners from new and only 35,489 miles on the odometer. The 6276cc V8 has the reputation as the most reliable of the Jensen engine choices and you'll never grow tired of the glorious soundtrack it provides on every journey. That sound and clothed in its original distinctive yellow paintwork means it will impress wherever it is seen. A true big engined, hand made classic GT car that is ready to be enjoyed immediately.
